I have an un-modded 49.7 cc minarelli scooter that runs great. 4.5 gram rollers, stock variator and a fairly new Gates 788 belt. It goes 40-45 on flats no problem but the initial take-off is lacking what it used to. I've narrowed it down to a weak contra spring. I wanna get a new one but not sure wether to order the blue (1000) or the yellow (1500) from Scrappy or something else altogether. It took off quick with the old belt but it was worn pretty narrow compared to the new belt so instead of going back to a worn belt I figure a stiffer contra spring will get me back to where I wanna be without sacrificing top end so What should I get? The 1000 or the 1500?

A guy on another forum said he read that a 1000 spring is actually rated for 1000 RPM's OVER the stock spring and the 1500 is 1500 OVER the stock spring etc... but you read a lot of shit on these forums that ain't right.

The clutch pads could also be a culprit but i had a bunch of extras but my unit got broke in to and i think there all gone i check to see if i have any stock ones

Stronger torque spring may need heavier weights . I just got this after reading 100% good reviews as it helps prevent binding of the spring http://eshop.mainelyscooters.com/by-brand/hoca/169-281
