Aprilia Sportcity 125 with trunk?

So, I wasn't really happy with the prices of most chinese 150cc scoots, and I thought I might as well broaden my spectrum to see if there's anything else out there that I might want to buy as a long lasting scoot, and pay some extra $$..

I had my eye on an Aprilia Sportcity 125, they had them in the dealer, but at a very steep price; of something like $4k or something!

The bike sits just perfect for me, I'm 6'2" tall, and unlike the chinese bikes, where I have to hang over, this one feels like I'm actually sitting in a perfect matched chair!
The brakes worked nice; haven't had the chance to ride it around; it was a fairly new bike to the dealer, and they did not have sufficient info to give me on the bike.

Overall it's probably exactly what I need. According to the specs, it does an avg of 25km per litre, or about 95MPG; 4 stroke, and large enough to fit 2 passengers.

I'm overall impressed with the scoot, finishing, even has a locking ring for the grocery bag hook.

The only thing I would want is to mount a rear trunk; though I don't know if it can host one.
It has on the back handles for the passenger, which I'm willing to remove, only if the bike can be equipped with a rear trunk.

Anyone knows if this is possible, with an easy aftermarket fix? In fact, I already have a trunk, all I need is a small 'platform' to mount my trunk on.

And second, where can I buy one cheaper, as I'm not willing to fork out $4,5K for a bike like this (that is dealer fee, and taxes included).

Dont mind the price you can probably find one cheaper just trying to show you they have top/cases or a trunk what ever you wanna call it.



Damn 4.5k is really steep
you should think about buying a really good 50cc that fits to your liking and then do an engine swap and youll have a lot more extra dough to spend on upgrades etc.
Where im from you can find a Roketa 180cc for 1.7k fits great for me (6'3 180ibs)

You won't get the same performance as that Aprilia out of 180 rocketa

Prodigit look at the Honda PCX 150 similar size better mpg and decent performance $1000 less than the Aprilia

Well when you on an island 4-12 miles wide, 30 long. Profromance does really matter i guess. Haha we just take what we can get and hopp it up.



But please explain to me how a 150cc engine will preform better than a 180cc, im actually curious. Id think a 180cc would smoke a 150cc any day but as for MPG itd do less than par.

The big brands use fuel injection, that means higher torque/hp, and better MPG.
For reference, the Sport city 125 has 11HP, that's exactly 3x more than my chinese 50cc (which has 3.3HP).

I just noticed the 125 sportcity has ~65MPG, not 95. The 95MPG is for the 50cc.

Another thing with the Aprilia's is that finding aftermarket parts is harder (like, eg: if I want to raise top speed, I should install a larger gear, but don't even know where to begin looking for it).

The good thing is, that at least my dealer fixes those aprilia's, and does maintenance on them.

I know that the PCX150 is a lot better.. I'm still looking around.
I was just a bit disilusioned in the price for chinese 150cc bikes. On the website they show an excellent price of $599, but if you add the mandatory insurance, shipping charges, taxes, etc... you end up paying just under $1000. That's almost twice the price as promoted online!

There is more to performance than just the size of the engine. How the engine works is also important. There is also braking and maneuverability and how when and where the bike makes hp and torque. I see guys on here do a lot of stuff to get there 150's to do a reliable constant 60 mph and I hear the PCX 150 from Honda does 70 or better right out of the crate. Power to weight ratio is more important than absolute power. Unfortunately most Chines bikes are not manufactured with attention to things that increase performance i.e. amount of unsprung weight, quality tires, adequate suspension, frame rigidity, or sufficient or quality brakes. Ride an Italian or Japanese bike someday and you will see the difference.

Rob is only saying the bikes are different Chinese scooters can perform well. I do not hate Chinese scooters. I do love all 2 wheeled means of conveyance. I have no doubt someone somewhere somehow has a 180 Rocketa that might come close in some situations to the same performance as the bikes mentioned but buy that time you will probably have spent close to what the stock Honda costs, sometimes. So in a nutshell please no flaming. Chinese scooters, despite the lack of attention to good engineering practices on the part of the manufacturer, can and do make reliable rides and yes I acknowledge they are quite a kick in the pants to ride (certain types of bumps at certain speeds, however, may add something else to your pants though)

Problem with the PCX 150, is that I had a similar, but larger bike just like this. The BMS TBX 260 EFI. I actually want something with a flat floorboard (for groceries), that has a high gas mileage, and can replace my TaoTao ATM50 for regular short trips to the supermarket, and occasional highway (just in case I ever end up on the highway again with my scoot, that at least I'm able to maintain the 50MPH, even uphill or with wind against me). The TaoTao does 50MPH, but if there's more than 30MPH winds against me, the thing does not go faster than 40, or sometimes even 35MPH.
When the scooter is hot (after a good 15 minutes of riding), it's adequate, and does 50MPH on a good day.
When it's cold, it performs lousy. I wanted something just powerful enough to accelerate fast, but also have a great top speed.

When I look at the 125's top speed, I wonder if it's really a good upgrade from my TaoTao; I mean, is the better acceleration, and +10MPH worth the $4k?
I might look back on the chinese 150's.
There are a lot of nice looking scoots out nowadays!

I like their GTS 125 Super Sport scooters!
Especially the yellow one! It's kinda unique, but I'm not willing to pay the $5700 price of the scoot.

Generally on South Beach, if you're running a vespa, you're either a girl, or associated with a person loving the same sex; so I prefer a sporty model.
I've looked at almost everything out there, and wanting or not, the chinese 150's are still unbeatable; I can basically buy 3 for the price of one vespa, piaggio, or Honda scooter.

Ok, the dealer said the sport city 125 was going for $2700, the $4700 price was for a larger cylinder version (I believe the 250cc).
However, I'm not so sold on the low MPG rating of the scooter.

I would see if the local dealer will throw in the case to sweeten the deal or at least get you the mount and case kit at cost. The OEM Givi cases are quick release and very handy.
